Rowdy is the story of a powerful man,Anna (Mohan Babu) in Rayalaseema region. He lock horns with a bunch of evil people,KR, Vedam (Thanikella Bharani), Chandi (Jeeva)who wants to take up the Nandavaram project for their business gains. But the construction of the project will mean that lakhs of people going homeless. Rest of the story is all about the fight between them.

Mohan Babu excelled in the role of Anna. The character resembles that of Amitabh Bachchan in Sarkar movie. He pulled it off with elegance. Jaya Sudha is offered a role of obedient wife and dotting mother and she excelled as usual. Manchu Vishnu plays a serious for the first time and proved his critics wrong. Shanvi is good in a not so significant role. Tanikella Bharani and Parchuri Gopala Krishna are exemplary. Rest of the characters are okay.

The

story is quite similar to RGV's Bollywood blockbuster, Sarkar. It is just a different context with different people at different location. However, the movie is not so intriguing as the original. The first half of the movie totally dilutes the intensity and the songs come as huge speed breakers.

Cinematography in the movie is good and Back ground score by Sai Karthi especially the BGM of Seema Lekka is Top notch. Editing should have been a lot better especially in the first half. Dialogues by Gangotri Viswanath are went overboard in some scenes.

Finally, Ram Gopal Varma's Rowdy is a not so great remake (freemake) of a very great film like Sarkar. You have nothing to do if you already watched Sarkar. If you have not watched it, you can wait for the DVD to enjoy some scenes.
