Critics:
Good actors. Decent storyline. Stylish settings. Crafted details. But just an incomplete piece of art. Not a must watch definitely.

The idea of the color white and its various visual imprints have always amused, liberated and soothed us. A white canvas is like a blank space, a vacant alley, a structured yet unstructured vacancy. Is filling colors the only option when you see this canvas or even imagine such a space? Director Subrata Sen's Shada Canvas is a narrative based on such ideas.

Artist Anjan (Rohit Roy) is moving through a tough phase in his professional career and is trapped by blank canvases. He is unable to paint and has surrendered to a block. At this point Riya (Malobika Banerjee) suddenly moves into the artist's life. The movement is not dear as she wrecks havoc and paints distinct nightmarish colors on the blank canvases.

The

director has played with varied persona, their emotions, their dreams and love and lust. The relationships he builds are indeed intricate and dramatic but not intense enough for us to relate with or feel too close to the new colors of the canvas.

Subrata Sen fruitfully narrates stories if couple in love through Anjan and Rupa (Paoli Dam). Alongside the disorderly story of Riya. The actors in their respective roles are nice, the characters played are believable but somehow the platter is cooked without the right amount of salt, giving way to a rather tasteless fare.

To summarize, Good actors. Decent storyline. Stylish settings. Crafted details. But Shada Canvas is just an incomplete piece of art. Not a must watch definitely.
