Ebar Shabor Bengali Movie

Critics:
Unlike many recent sleuth films, Ebar Shabor is a fresh pie. Many layers, many commitments, many emotions and an underlying revenge and love story makes the film a nice watch and is definitely one of those films that you will want to watch once more.

A chase. Winding roads. Twisted turns. Animated fights. Boom! Splash! Surprises. That's the beginning of Ebar Shabor. The long chase sequence brings us face to face with Shabor Dasgupta, detective with Lalbazar detective department. Based on Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay's 'Rwin', Ebar Shabor is a screen adaptation of the story by Director Arindam Sil. Sil takes up his detective too seriously and weaves the story with enough twists and turns, which is bound to keep you wondering about who? When? What?

The murder of Mitali Ghosh (Swastika Mukherjee) under absolutely normal circumstances brings in Shabor Dasgupta (Saswata Chatterjee) to decipher the real abnormalities behind the crime. A visit to the crime scene, few conversations and some confused revelations and the story starts building up. Shabor picks and chooses his suspects with caution. Meets them, speaks to them and tries to draw a connection.

Unlike many recent sleuth films, Ebar Shabor is a fresh pie. Many layers, many commitments, many emotions and an underlying revenge and love story makes the film a nice watch and is definitely one of those films that you will want to watch once more. Music director Bickram Ghose seals the deal with rhythm and music, but the music is more expressive and forms a backbone to the chilling suspense however does not leave an impression to follow up later.

An ex husband, an ex lover, a friend turned admirer and a cousin every relation to Mitali and every circumstance that she has been through are under the detectives sharp eyes. Pages from her diary help him understand the victim and the present makes him to the estimates and calculations to solve the murder.

Camera and cast are the two strong areas for Ebar Shabor. All the actors are comfortably balanced in their respective roles. Ritwick Chakraborty as Pantu Haldar, is way too natural and is bound to make you feel uncomfortable with the realities of screen life. Abir Chatterjee is casual and smart in his role. Swastika is that lady who can break or make a man. June Malia is expressive and beautifully holds together her role by guarding the secrets till the end. Samiran (Rahul) is too perfect for his role and the one who deserves a special mention after Ritwick Chakraborty is of course Saswata Chatterjee. He yet again proves his reign over the screen by ruling through Ebar Shabor.

To summarise, Ebar Shabor is a nice watch and is definitely one of those films that you will want to watch once more.
