Uttama Villain Telugu Movie

Uttama Villain is not the usual average entertainer which caters to the need of every one. Unless you are an extremely passionate film buff or a die hard fan of Kamal, you will find it extremely tough to sit through out the very lengthy and slow paced film. It is almost like a vanity project for Kamal and may not go well with B, C center audience.

Mano Ranjan (Kamal Haasan) is an ageing Superstar who experienced all the pleasures in live but is not able to sink in the reality of age. Finally he realizes that he as an actor is failed to leave any thing behind. He suddenly grows concern about leaving back the right kind of legacy and then he goes back to his mentor Margadarsi (Director Balachander) and requests him to make one last film with him. This movie surprises some while angers lot of people. Even his family distances with him as a past sin comes to haunt him in the form of a love child (played by Parvathi Menon). What happens in his life is what 'Uttama Villain' is all about.

Kamal Haasan had delivered an outstanding performance. It seems like he througly enjoyed the role which has some shades of his real life references. His performance particularly in the closing stages of the film is spectacular. It is good to see Late Balachander sir in the film for one last time. His role is vital in the context of the film and he walked through it effortlessly. Seeing Kamal and Balachander together will have a very deep impact on their fans. Senior actor Vishwanadh has also done a good job. Pooja Kumar is fabulous in the role of an actress. She also comes up with a reasonable performance. Andrea is seen as a doctor and she is adequate.

Ramesh Aravind has got a very interesting concept via Kamal Hassan. However it appeared like his experience was not enough to deal with complex subject. He had his good moments in the film like during the Theeyyam and the climax sequences. But he let off the film as a whole with very slow pace and too much of melodrama. Had he stuffed some commercial elements in to the film, it would have been lot more appealing to wider range of audience. Also the movie is painfully 3 hours long and the Editor should have easily chopped it off by 30 minutes. Particularly the scenes between Kamal and Nasser were very boring.

Shmdat is very impressive with his camera capturing some rich and arresting visuals. Ghibran has his good moments with background music during the closing stages of the movie and in the Hiranyakasipu Natakam episode. But as a whole he is a disappointment. Production values in the film are good.

Uttama Villain is not the usual average entertainer which caters to the need of every one. Unless you are an extremely passionate film buff or a die hard fan of Kamal, you will find it extremely tough to sit through out the very lengthy and slow paced film.
