Dongaata Telugu Movie

Feature Film | 2015 | UA
Critics:
Dongaata is a passable Crime comedy with good performances and well executed thrills. Even though a predictable script, thin story-line and dragged narration disappoints, the film cab easily be watched once.

Venkat (Adivi Sesh), Vijju (Madhu Nandan) and Kattam Raju (Prabhakar) are goons who conspires on getting settled in life by kidnapping a top heroine, Shruti (Lakshmi Manchu). They successfully implement their plan and bring Shruti behind their walls and demand a hefty ransom of 10 Crore from her mother, Jyothi (Pragathi). Then there is a US Private detective Brahmi - man on fire (Brahmanandham) and ACP Kanakambaram (Prudhvi) who tries to dig in to the case. What happens finally in the story forms the rest.

All the leads have put up good performance while Adivi Sesh and Lakshmi Manchu stole the show. They seem to have complimented each other while Lakshmi even allowed Sesh to take front seat in some scenes. Lakshmi is particularly impressive in the climax sequences with her foibles and histrionics. Prabhakar (Maryada Rammana fame) and Madhu Nandan are fine. Brahmanandam and Pruthvi could have added more value to the film but are left under used while Pragathi is over used. Giri Babu and Annapurnamma are total waste and their scenes can be easily chopped off.

Usually all the jidnap stories have the friction between the kidnappers and the police but in Dongaata, it is within the team. But the problem with the film is that things fall like pins after the start in the first half. Several illogical, unwanted and predictable scene spoil the broth until a good interval bang. Director Vamsi Krishna got inspired the introduction fight from Avenger's Black Widow sequences and the climax from Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. However he makes a comeback with some interesting twists and good comedy in the second half. The film turns were impressive when Lakshmi Manchu tries to get back the ransom for a good cause.

Raghu Kunche's Back ground score is good. All the songs particularly the breakup song in which Nagarjuna, Simbhu, Ravi Teja, Rana Daggubati, Nani, Navdeep, Sudheer Babu and Taapsee danced is very impressive. Camera work is pretty good while Shekar's editing is good.

Production Values are good.

Dongaata finally is a passable Crime comedy with good performances and well executed thrills. Even though a predictable script, thin story-line and dragged narration disappoints, the film cab easily be watched once.
