Tripura Telugu Movie

Feature Film | 2015
Critics:
Finally Tripura may not be a perfect horror comedy but will keep you entertained by the end. Some good performances and good dose of comedy, helps the film to cross that line. A decent watch if not great.

Tripura (Swathi Reddy) is a village belle who some how picks up a rare abnormality of foreseeing future tragedies in her dreams. Dr. Naveen (Naveen Chandra) was pressed in to treat her but they get married. They move to the city to begin a new beginning in life. However Naveen has a past which involves the death of his previous love, doctor Eesha (Pooja Ramachandran). Esha's death comes back to haunt Tripura and what happens next forms the rest of the plot.

Swathi Reddy who until now confined mostly to cute bubbly girl roles, played a matured house wife in the movie. She put on some weight to add value to the character. She did very well in scenes especially with Sapthagiri and in the climax. Only drawback seem to be her amateur voice in some scenes. Naveen Chandra is cool and fit to the role. Pooja Ramachandran is impressive as well in the brief yet intriguing role. Sapthagiri is the major highlight with some hilarious comedy. Kannada actor Tilak comes as a surprise. JP and Shakalaka Shankara are good in few scenes of the second half while Rao Ramesh is not used to his potential.

Raaj Kiran after his very successful debut with Geethanjali, a horror comedy stick to the same genre for his second. The director justified only to the comedy part of the film while we feel horror dose is not up to the mark. He managed to draw good performances from all his cast. Veligonda Srinivas' screenplay is decent with faltering a bit here and there. But by the end, they managed to drive the point with some good twists.

Music director Kamran did not come up with a great album but the back ground score is too good and elevated the mood of the film. Ravi Kumar's cinematography is good while the production values are appropriate.

Finally Tripura may not be a perfect horror comedy but will keep you entertained by the end. Some good performances and good dose of comedy, helps the film to cross that line. A decent watch if not great.
