Inelegantly linking many half-baked stories through coincidence and far-fetched plotting, Mother’s Day works as an aspirational film for the most boring people alive.The gimmick with these films is to cram in as many characters as possible, and then watch as they all come together.Mother’s Day is garbage, but it’s a wholesome type of garbage they just don’t make anymore.

That great American tradition of a Mother’s Day is around the corner and it gives a bunch of celebrated Hollywood names an excuse to get all weepy and sentimental. And, groan, banal.All these characters speak as if they are part of a day-time soap, in lines that are so sudsy that bubbles blow around them.
