Kattapanayile Hrithik Roshan Malayalam Movie
It's risky but accomplished with ease. When Nadirsha returns after the sleeper hit "Amar Akbar Antony", one might have doubted if he could repeat the same magic in "Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan" with Vishnu Unnikrishnan in a lead role. Undoubtedly, he proves that his success as a filmmaker in debut was not just a flash in the pan.
Krishnan aka Kichu (Vishnu Unnikrishnan) is son of Bhaskaran (Siddique), a labourer and hardcore fan of yesteryear actor Jayan. His failure to become an actor impels him to realise his dream through his son Kichu. But Kichu, a carefree youth, gets only small roles in films. Kichu has an inferiority complex due to his dark complexion. This prevents him from expressing his love towards Anne Maria (Prayaga Martin). Besides he faces unexpected hurdles in his journey to filmdom.
Well, the story is as old as the hills. The formula of right mix of genuine humour and sentiments in apt places proves to be successful for "Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan" and thus it stands tall as an entertainer.
Nadirsha has deliberately adopts the safe route in depicting his hero as an ordinary youth. Kichu's failures and drawbacks are highlighted in the plot. This restraint from the part of the filmmaker makes the film a convincing one. Interestingly, Vishnu single-handedly takes the film forward and he emotes well too. But one would wonder the logic in the car mishap scene in the climax.
At the outset, the flashback mode whips up your curiosity as usual, and the proceedings lead to Kattappana. Though appears to be a cliched character initially, the sidekick role of Dasappan (Dharmajan Bolgatty) is well-crafted and he performs neatly. Obviously, actor Salim Kumar as Kichu's neighbour, deserves special mention for his timing in comic scenes. Lijomol Jose, of "Maheshinte Prathikaram" fame has also done well.
Scripted by Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George, "Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan" offers a laugh riot. If you plan to unwind yourself, go ahead.
