With five films and two hits last year, Sneha was the most successful Tamil heroine in 2004. She is now starting the new year with "Aayudham", starring opposite Prashanth who was incidentally the hero of her first film "Virumbukiren" too.

"Aayudham", made by the "Indru Mudal" director M.A. Murugesh, is produced by CEE (I) TV Entertainment, the same company that made "Jeans", "Jodi" and "Arasatchi".

In the film, Sneha plays Maha, the daughter of village priest Ramakrishnan, and Prashanth plays Siva, the son of a police constable from Tuticorin, who has been sent to Chennai to help him escape from some of the bad characters in his village.

As medical students there from two separate villages, Siva and Maha become friends first, but slowly their friendship turns into love.

Enters the villain Maya, who had been obsessed with Maha in her village. When he comes to know about the ongoing love affair, he decides to kill Siva.

How Siva rescues Maha from the clutches of Maya forms the climax of "Aayudham".

Other than Prashanth and Sneha, the film stars Vadivelu, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Janakaraj.

Dhina's music is enjoyable, unlike other Pongal releases this year.

With Arvind as the cinematographer, the entire movie was shot in Chennai, except for a song and a fight sequence in London.

"Aayudham", this festive season, can spring quite a pleasant surprise at the box office.
