PLOT:

A period film set in the 19th century based on the folklore of Kerala, the film follows the life and times of Manikyan - the legendary sorcerer and one of the last in the Odiyan clan, which is known for its supernatural powers that often defy the laws of nature.

The premise wears thin after a point, although Odiyan's fantasy world full of urban legends and razzmatazz are good enough to merit a watch. Keep your expectations in check, though.

In 'Odiyan', Manickan, played by Mohanlal, is returning to his village with a task in mind after 15 years but the revenge drama is overpowered by inappropriate technical fripperies than an engaging substance. The triumphs of Manickan are more in a fantasy mode evoking a mixed feeling of acceptance.
