Khaki Telugu Movie
Khaki is based on a Real Story that happened between 1985 and 2005 about a gang which resorted to 45 robberies, 18 murders and impacted 64 lives. DSP Dheeraj Kumar (Karthi), an upright officer and encounter specialist is deputed to nab the gang and the rest is all about the operation to eliminate the menace.
Karthi who is mostly seen in lover boy roles has tried a Police Role in which he is seen without makeup. He performed the character really well. Rakul Preet Singh tried the role of a housewife for the first time. Bose Venkat is good as a strict officer. Abhimanyu Singh is stunning as the leader of the baddies gang.
Director H Vinoth took a good subject with lots of scope to thrill. Good research has gone into the story but the narration is inconsistent and lengthy. The romantic track in the first half is totally unnecessary. The film gets interesting from the Pre-Interval and there are some interesting sequences in the second half. Since the crime story is most predictable, it adds to the length of the story. The climax is also long.
As said earlier, Vinoth chose a good subject but faltered in executing it with perfection. The story is based on 90s and the color grading suiting it is impressive. Satyan Sooran's camera work and Ghibran's background music are good. Songs, however, are disappointing. Subbarayan's action is an asset to the film. Editing should have been better. Production Values are impressive.
Finally, Khaki is a riveting cop drama with some edge of the moments but suffers pace issues. The Crime Story, however, has not commercial elements but will be loved by the people who like realistic thrillers.
