'Abhiyude Kadha Anuvinteyum' is a lethargically crafted romantic drama with a sensitive element blended in the story. The bizarre conflict of this romance fails to make you sympathetic towards the characters. Poor screenplay and paucity of apt creative contribution amplify the monotony. A slipshod attempt is explicit in every aspect of this film.

Two lovers have been stranded in a bizarre situation after their marriage and they have to find an eternal remedy for extricating themselves from the disturbing crisis. The hesitation of their minds in accepting the reality is the real burden they carry. Here the real problem is the controversial conflict in this story. The plot faces the big question of its acceptance among the audience even in this era. Albeit sounds interesting, you can clearly feel the perplexity of the writer in developing a solution.

Director B.R. Vijayalakshmi's protagonists, Abhimanyu aka Abhi (Tovino Thomas) and Anu (Piaa Bajpai), get married the following day after their first meeting. Abhi, who is working in Chennai, sees Anu on social media and he falls in love with her after realising her humane activities through the videos she uploaded on Facebook. Abruptly, you witness their marriage and there ensues the problem.

Ensconced in a comfort zone, Vijayalakshmi traces the intricacies of the conflict in the relationship between Abhi and Anu in "Abhiyude Kadha Anuvinteyum". This scanning of personal problem never helps the film move forward regarding the subject it handles. Given its specific nature, the plot is panting for a shift from personal angle to the societal premise in order to make it more eventful. Vijayalakshmi falters in exploiting an ensemble cast, including Suhasini, Prabhu and Rohini effectively. The evolving drama is soulless and pretty mediocre despite the presence of these actors. Moreover, there is lack of coherent situations in the script penned by Udhayabhanu Maheshwaran.

Among the actors, Tovino is more emphatic in his performance. The disgrace is equal for Abhi and Anu. But Tovino stands apart in exuding the pain and mental conflict. Piaa never seems to be in full confidence and her lip sync is disastrous in her Malayalam debut. The visuals of Agilan are delightful and they provide some respite.

Abhiyude kadha Anuvinteyum handles a sensitive issue which has no readymade answers and so is very difficult to predict. The director B. R. Vijayalakshmi has done a good job in telling the story without any hiccups. Tovino Thomas and Piaa Bajpayee as the sizzling love pair, the emotionally torn husband and wife and the most unfortunate father and mother have enacted their roles very well. Cinematography by Agilan is superb. On the whole it is a good one time watchable movie.
