Thank You Very Much Malayalam Movie
Here is a socially-relevant message that has been presented with an amateurish and dramatic narration. "Thank You Very Much" fails to register well its good intention as the plot's emotional reach only goes skin deep. With a trite theme in hand, director Sajin Lal harps on the present education system and the pressure being exerted on students by teachers as well as parents. He delineates the problems of a Plus Two student and instead of making the topic doddle, Sajin treats it uninspiringly, and the result is a mundane film.
Teenager Achyut Shankar, enacted by Arun Sidharth, is a problem boy in school as he excels only in cricket. His father Pradeep (Mukundan) punishes him severely so often for his academic drawbacks. His mother Devi, played by Lena, and grandfather Sankaran Nair (Babu Namboodiri) support him to pursue his passion. But an incident in the school persuades him to elope.
R. Ajith's script then traverses through complex areas and these phases appear as messy and unconvincing. After his escape from home, the portrayal of Achyut's life is simply amateurish and crude. Slipshod handling of the plot is evident in a few scenes where a Tamil news channel's voice over is heard in Malayalam and children play tennis ball cricket wearing helmet and pads. The busting of a drug mafia is a snap as far as this movie's narration is concerned.
Lena's emotional mother and Babu Namboodiri's zealous grandfather lend credibility to the tale. But a complicated climax sullies the intention of the film and compels us to come in terms with this family drama in a jiffy. Considering films with similar themes in Malayalam, this movie lags behind, thanks to a lukewarm presentation.
Ensconced in old-fashioned treatment, this film is a bit stagy and peters out disappointingly.
