Vasudev(Nassar) resigns from his Chief Minister post and nominates his son Varun (Vijay Deverakonda) in his place as an Interim Chief Minister after he gets tangled in a corruption case. But then, Varun is totally new to politics and does not take it seriously until Vasudev gets seriously injured in a murder attempt on him. Rest is all about the challenges Varun face and how he overcame them.

Vijay's acting as a Chief Minister is so natural. Once again he gave his best to the role. He is the major plus point to the film. Seasoned Pros Nasser and Sathyaraj are excellent as always. Mehreen is present in the film only for the sake of having a heroine. Sanchana Natarajan and Priyadarshi got very less screen space compared to the above.

The

work of the writer, as well as the director, is disappointing. Production values from Studio Green are grand. BGM from Sam C.S. sets up the tone in certain important sequences. The cinematography from Santhana Krishnan is good. Writer Shan Karrupusamy seems to have inspired from some real incidents that happened in the recent past at Tamil Nadu state. It would have been good if there is a Telugu Connect to the story. Further, the screenplay lacks the impact of a political thriller. The film starts interestingly with a politically novice person becoming the CM of a state and this interest gradually goes down as the weak screenplay eclipses the flow of the movie. The first half of the film is average with only the Press Meet scene being the highlight. The second half is an even big let down with serious paces and an abrupt climax. NOTA may work in Tamil Nadu but will be a disappointment for Telugu audience.
