Dev is thoroughly disappointing Romantic Drama. It is unbelievable that the director managed to convince Karthi with this story.

Dev (Karthi) is a fun and adventure loving guy who is forced to get in touch with Meghana (Rakul Preet Singh), a rich businesswoman who has no time for love. Meghana does not give time for him initially but later falls for him slowly. But then like a twist, Dev starts having issues with Meghana because of her possessive attitude. Rest of the story is all about how Dev and Meghana dealt with their differences and unite.

Karthi looks superb in modern getup with good hairstyle and charming personality. He performs very good and shoulders the film. Rakul Preet Singh gots a meaty role and dominated Karthi in some places. The guy who did the role of Karthi's friend is okay. Rest of the cast have nothing much to do in the film.

Director Rajath Ravi Shankar is the villain of the film as he picked a script with no story at all and moreover, he wasted a whopping 50 Crore on this silly subject. The first half is boring with no conflict point at all. Only the scenes between Karthi and his friends are a bit of relief. The second half is also disappointing. The romance is boring and the conflict is brought too late in the Pre-Climax. Moreover, the pace is too slow.

Music by Harris Jayraj is good but all his songs are lost in the narration. Lyrics are below par and the dubbing done for major characters is horrible and looks out of hand. Camera work is neat but the locations are not utilized properly. Production Values are grand and the editing has been a massive letdown.

Finally, Dev is thoroughly disappointing Romantic Drama. It is unbelievable that the director managed to convince Karthi with this story. The hard work of Karthi and Rakul is totally ruined. Except for that, there is nothing in the story. But if you still want to watch, try it at your risk.
