Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota Hindi Movie

A homage to everything we grew up with: kung fu flicks, Bollywood revenge dramas, love stories, reality shows and yes, superhero movies. You will have a smile pasted on your face to watch this very different offering about a chap who doesn't feel physical pain, but is out to avenge his mother. There are no big ticket stars in this film, but the content of this film is so fabulous, it doesn't matter. This is a debut film for Abhimanyu Dassani and second film for Radhika Madan (you saw her first in Vishal Bhardwaj's Patakha under layers of dirt). There's Gulshan Devaiah in the best role he has done so far. And Mahesh Manjrekar as a brilliant, brilliant grandpa. Even Jimit Trivedi as nervous dad gives his best. The film is so good, and details are so brilliantly rendered to the script that even a security guard who fights the final fight in the superhero movie gets your attention!

Let's start from the beginning. Surya is a lad who cannot feel pain, and schoolmates and neighborhood kids jab him with dividers and hit him and break his bones because they need to figure out whether he's faking it, and to be cruel.

Surya's grandfather simply brilliant Mahesh Manjrekar who supports the lad by filling his head with all the karate films and superhero stories in order to keep the lad occupied. Dad in the meanwhile is happy to tie up the lad (he does wild things like jump off to cupboards and so on just to want to feel pain!) and keep him under control.

This boy grows up watching videos and in his first venture out in the real world, he finds out his childhood hero Karate Man is holding a 100 man fight, and decides to seek him out. The fun simply escalates when 'No pain' lad meets his childhood idol Karate Mani (Gulshan Devaiah).

This is a wonderful, confident debut for Abhimanyu Dassani, and even if there is a Bollywood romantic track, it is done with great irreverence.

It is a crazy romp through everything you have seen before in Karate films but funnier. The action is stupendous but zanier. And everyone, including the man at the armoury counter have great timing when mouthing the funniest dialog heard all of this year. A couple of times you think that the film drags a bit, but then it picks up pace again and how! This film is worth seeing a couple of times!
