Ayul Regai has newcomers, Gayathri and Sriji in the lead. Both play the central characters of the film. The film touches various spectrums of life like those of love, desire and wealth. It depicts the three phases in a man's life.
The film preaches that human beings should understand the notion of Heaven and Hell, comprehend the self and keep human instincts under control.
The story of the film is about Thennavan played by Sriji. He is disturbed by the previous incidents that have taken place in his life. He disconnects himself from the society. He seeks the companionship of a girl. He portrays a confused person who is confused between the feelings of love and lust and this leads to the split of relationship with the girl. This adds to his disappointments.
He again falls in love with Raji. He tries to woo her, however in totally unlawful means. He has all the materialistic needs to satisfy him but does not find solace due to his inner conflict.
