Ayyappanum Koshiyum follows the lives of Koshy Kurien played by Prithviraj and Ayyappan Nair played by Biju Menon. By the first 30 minutes of the movie, the audience is seeing the rivalry begin to unfold as Koshy uses certain tactics to get Ayyappan in serious trouble with his superior which leads to his suspension as a police officer. This clash continues for the rest of the film which creates the plot with both parties trying to be down each others throats, getting their families involved with threats and risking their own lives. Instead of pursuing needed, local police duties, the local department is now following Ayyappan and Koshy to ensure things don't get out of control which drags the local community into the picture. Biju Menon does a superb job playing a 2 sided character in the film. As a police officer he portrays all qualities of a law abiding officer however, once that khakhi is removed under suspension, he becomes a whole new Ayyappan (or rather an Ayyappan from his past) seeking his revenge with great courage, no fear and not taking any law under consideration. Prithviraj, whom we typically see as our hero with strength, here is the villian, who has his own doubts about pursuing this revenge game yet his ego and pressure from his father do not allow him to stop. Director Ranjith plays the absolute villian as Koshy's father, adding mix to the plot. Costumes for all actors suited well with their respective roles and choreography shot angles well.
