Writer-director Raffi has leveraged all the trappings of the so-called entertainment in his latest outing with the tale of an ordinary man stranded in an extraordinary situation. His extended imagination places the protagonist from a remote village among a group of dissidents in Mumbai and a dollop of emotional tale between a father and daughter complements it. 'Voice of Sathyanathan' meets all the parameters of a typical Raffi-Dileep combo despite its loosened plot that eventually hobbles to connect with reality of modern times. The add-ons like extremists and prison episodes appear to be cinematic luxuries to gloat over the aura of certain actors and in fact, their presence turns out to be a casual visit in the flick.

Dileep, who appears in the eponymous role, is able to create an impact with his own mannerisms and gets ample room for permeating the emotional vibes of the character. The situations formed in the lives of Sathyanathan and his neighbour Varkey (Siddique) are hilarious even as the repetitive setbacks happening in Varkey's life are a little overdone. While Siddique has been assigned to foster the humour aspect of the film, the same task hardly elicits the required impact from Panchayat President (Johny Antony) and a young vlogger, played by Ramesh Pisharody.

After eloping with his girlfriend Susan (Veena Nandakumar), Sathyanathan is living in a small house in a village. His neighbour Varkey is creating problems for him occasionally after a slip of the tongue from Sathyanathan caused to arouse the fury of Varkey. Sathyanathan faces problems with his miscue which even leads to his imprisonment.

In jail, he meets the stone-faced Balan (Joju George), a murder accused. After being released from jail, Sathyanathan leaves for Mumbai in search of a shop to run his business there. But unfortunately, he was nabbed by the police and they put him behind bars. The hero's decisive phase of life begins there as he bumps into an extremist, played by Makarand Deshpande. Meanwhile, National Security Officer Nambiar (Jagapathi Babu) traces Sathyanathan's activities in Mumbai after getting freed from jail.

'Voice of Sathyanathan' embraces emotional terrains with the introduction of Balan's life but it is a trite and hammy episode derived from an obsolete concept. Albeit the script struggles to create a connection with the events impressively, Joju's performance during his meeting with his daughter in jail throws light on his versatile calibre.

The substance of this film reminds us of the formula that generally evolves in the Raffi-Dileep combo. It fulfils the task of the so-called entertainment albeit the concept is far from fresh. The two layers of the plot vividly expose the fissures between them, giving an unexciting outcome. Ankit Menon's background music perfectly blends with the premise amid the mediocre technical aspects of the film.
