Kammattippaadam review

Kammattippaadam

Malayalam · 2016

'Kammattipadam' is a gritty, many-sided film that deftly captures a few overlapping lives in a thriving new city. Very rarely relaxing its grip on the viewer, Rajeev Ravi's film is a seething, unsettling cinematic feat that is replete with surprises and shocks galore.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol review

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol

Malayalam · 2017

The creative execution is what saves the day in 'Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol', and the quaint romanticism that it lays out one of a kind. Jibu Jacob might not have come up with a bonafide masterpiece, but 'Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol' is indeed an awesome choice to start off your new cinema year!

Oozham review

Oozham

Malayalam · 2016

It requires some very special effort to make a revenge saga appear amazing these days; and director Jeethu Joseph, armed with a hum-ho script and a storyline that is as decrepit as the ancient Roman empire, appears clueless in 'Oozham' as to how to keep his audience occupied. Regardless of the countless explosions that 'Oozham' has in store, it strikes the viewer as little more than a mere mock drill that leaves nothing but some black smoke in its wake.

Welcome to Central Jail

Malayalam · 2016

A flopping chaos of a movie that's an unintentional joke by itself, 'Welcome to Central Jail' is the kind of movie that needs to be straightway thrashed.

Oppam review

Oppam

Malayalam · 2016

The perturbed stillness and gut-wrenching calm that encompass 'Oppam' is what makes it a fulfilling thriller. The irrefutable tension that leads onto a passable denouement makes this cinematic jaunt worthwhile, and it's the uptight ambience that is imposing much more that its ultimate payoff.

Janatha Garage review

Janatha Garage

Malayalam · 2016

To cut a long story short, the generic 'Janatha Garage' fails to pack the punch. Barring a debonair Mohanlal and his appealing act, there is probably very little in it for the Malayali viewer that would have him enthralled.

Marubhoomiyile Aana

Malayalam · 2016

'Marubhoomiyile Aana' is a wild and unfunny elephant that runs rampant on the desert, tearing down everything that lies on its path. A total thumbs down for this one!

Pinneyum review

Pinneyum

Malayalam · 2016

On retrospect, 'Pinneyum' strikes us as little more than a sentimental pile of overworked emotions. Clearly not a film that one would expect of Adoor, it's an ineffective reformulation of a familiar theme that gets lost between cinematic genres.

Vismayam review

Vismayam

Malayalam · 2016

Chandra Sekhar Yeleti's 'Vismayam' should strike the right chord with the Telugu audience, while it's precisely this alien cultural setting that is likely to distance it from its other language viewers. It remains without saying however that 'Vismayam' is a film with oodles of good will and intentions behind it that partly get transacted on to the screen.

Kismath review

Kismath

Malayalam · 2016

Flawlessly acted, remarkably scripted and skilfully executed, 'Kismat' is a striking cinematic accomplishment that needs to be seen and appreciated. It brandishes the emotional tumult that lies within, with immense ferocity and passion, and emerges exultantly as one of the best films that have made it to the screens this year.

White review

White

Malayalam · 2016

Director Uday Ananthan makes an effort to whitewash a severely blotched script in his latest film 'White'. At best a slushy soap that features two of the best looking actors in showbiz, 'White' is an overly rich sentimental saga that has its heart in the wrong place.

Pa.Va review

Pa.Va

Malayalam · 2016

It takes some real effort to craft some art out of torpor, and the sluggishness in 'Pa.Va' proves to be the chief reason behind its undoing. It's one of those odd statements that finally end up with little to say.
