Sri Balaji Creations, Uyire is a lively movie handling a delicate subject deftly and admirably. Director Samy, in his debut venture, should be given the credit for walking the tight rope carefully without attracting vulgarity and obscenity

The story revolves around the lively youth, Sundar, who has returned from Australia after finishing his graduation in Engineering. He comes to live with his passionate brother, his lovely wife and their cute little daughter in their home at Ooty. Sundar's brother's wife Arundathi has a deep longing for Sundar. Sundar is in love with Anandhi, a pretty girl he meets in his niece's School. Sundar's brother commits suicide suddenly and the responsibility falls on Sundar to take care of Arundathi and her daughter.

Arundathi uses these events to her advantage to seduce Sundar towards her. She tries to break the relationship of Sundar and Anandhi and even goes to the extent of inflicting physical harm on her own daughter in order to retain Sundar for herself. Sundar is unrelenting and rock solid. How Sundar and Anandhi break free the shackles imposed by Arundathi and unite in marriage forms the rest of the narration.

The film totally belongs to Sangeetha, who has played the role of Arundathi with finesse and control. It is a mature performance befitting of a senior pro. Once again she has proved that she is capable of weighty roles. Srikanth has done well as a youthful, loving and responsible man caught between love, lust and passion. Samvrutha as the petite ladylove of the hero is charming and lively in the role. She is able to survive the onslaught of the glamour demanding industry, by trying to be respectable. It's a tough task indeed by the current standards.

The two child artistes are nice and heart warming. The other artistes have done their parts well. Humor is missing from the narration even though Balaji makes an appearance as the hero's friend.

The Director who has worked with Parthiban and Cheran shows good promise and potential. The music by Kadhal fame Joshua is not heart stirring as expected. He has managed to tune two good numbers. The camera of Fausia catching the poetic locales of Ooty is soothing the eye. Thotta Tharani has as usual produced natural settings in the interiors with some good artistic pieces in the background.

In the present day trend of films with gangsters, blood shed and mid rib revealing elfins, producing such an entertainer is a tough task. It is good watch for all.
