“I wish I were so refreshingly charming, filthy rich and lucky in romance” is the thought that is bound to come up in the minds of most full blooded young men watching the movie “Chukkallo Chandrudu”. Isn’t it a common desire of guys – to be loved by as many pretty girls as possible?

As the title suggests, Arjun (Siddharth) is the chandrudu among the three chukkallu – Shalini (Saloni), Sandhya (Charmi) and Sravani (Sada) in the movie. The exceedingly smart and charming chandrudu romances all the three chukkallu simultaneously, flaring up the imagination of every able bodied person. While most of the guys would like to believe that they were in such a situation, girls would find at the end of the movie that they have conveniently slipped into the shoes of anyone of the three heroines.

It’s a refreshing movie about an heir apparent to a property worth 500-600 crores and grandson of Krishna Rao (Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao) and Padmavati (Waheeda Rehman) who are settled in Dusseldorf, Germany. Arjun is averse to love and marriage as he fears losing loved ones, for he had lost his parents in a plane crash. But the doting grand parents want him married. Grandma Padmavati dies, making the resolve of grandpa stronger, to see Arjun married. Arjun relents and promises his grandpa to find a girl for himself. And the quest begins with the help of his childhood friend Pappu (Sunil). Arjun traces three sweethearts from his school days and wins their hearts. The three nubile maidens are of contrasting nature. Shalini is sportive and is a tennis champion. Sandhya is an activist and a sweet rakhsashi. Sravani is a would-be doctor who cries at the drop of a hat. Arjun falls for all the three of them and they did the opposite. Whom he marries at the end is for the viewer to see.

Alright, Siddharth is emerging as the prince of romance of Telugu Cinema, no doubt about that. The charm and ease with which he woes the three young desirable women, is going to trigger off some such real life romantic endeavors for sure. If the pranks played on Trisha in the movie “Nuvvu Ostanante Nenu Oddantana’ established Siddharth as a playful romantic hero, “Chukkallo Chandrudu” proves that he is the prince of romance, consummate and complete.

Sunil with his timing and comical facial expressions provides large doses of the best medicine – laughter. The heroines look attractive without shedding garments. Dr. Akkineni Nageswara Rao, the thespian, plays the role of a grandfather flawlessly adding flamboyance to the role by shaking a leg or two. There is nothing much to write about Prabhu Deva, who makes a brief appearance as the lover of Charmi.

“Chukkallo Chandrudu” is a movie sans violence. Mercifully there are no sleazy scenes to make you wince in the company of your family. On the whole it’s a romantic movie that provides neat entertainment. Had the songs and music been a shade better, the movie could have been a hit like NONO.
