Written and directed by George Kora, who also portrays one of the protagonists, "Tholvi FC" delves into the theme of confronting failures and reclaiming self-assurance. The film aims to cultivate a feel-good ambiance, with Kora's endeavor to infuse every character with drops of self-confidence. While Kora's script sparkles with occasional brilliance and vitality, it lacks a certain depth. The movie garners considerable support from its feel-good elements woven into the narrative, even though the plot occasionally meanders aimlessly.

The story revolves around a family and its members, all grappling with failures in their respective pursuits.

Kuruvila (Johny Antony), an apathetic individual, falls victim to a cryptocurrency fraud, while his wife Shosha (Asha Madathil) is a librarian yearning to publish her debut novel after facing rejection from multiple publishers. Kuruvila's elder son Umman (Sharafudheen) struggles as an unsuccessful entrepreneur, managing a sparsely visited tea shop called 'Chai Nation' near an IT company. Meanwhile, his younger son Thampi (George Kora) serves as a small-time football coach for children in his club 'Thambi FC,' which earns the mocking nickname 'Tholvi FC' due to its unending streak of defeats. The landscape of failures is expanded with the arrival of Thambi's schoolmate Mariyam (Meenakshi Reveendran), a divorcee returned from the Gulf.

Mariyam, in search of emotional support, hails from a conservative background and aspires to break free from gender restrictions. Thambi, though immature in his demeanor, is determined to help her. His football club consists of just four kids, and their matches reveal the absurdity of the script.

Umman, an engineering graduate, harbors ambitious ideas to grow his business but faces financial obstacles. His father, Kuruvila, resides with him after squandering money on online trading. Umman's encounters with investor Althaf (Althaf Salim) inject moments of levity into the film. He also grapples with maintaining his relationship with his former colleague Sharmin (Poonam Gurung).

The film attempts to inspire with its blend of feel-good elements but struggles to maintain a consistent plot, vacillating between a serious and a joyful tone. The lackadaisical narration detracts from the film's core message, while certain scenes involving the children feel overdone. Nevertheless, the actors deliver faithful performances that align with the situations presented in the movie, which also explores the perils of mobile addiction in children. In summary, "Tholvi FC" is a mediocre family drama endeavoring to inspire viewers with the message of maintaining positivity and persevering to achieve life's goals.
