Directed by Ubaini, 'Rahel Makan Kora' attempts to blend family drama with a prevalent social issue within a conflict-ridden setting. While the script shows glimpses of potential that beckon for thematic refinement, the overall presentation of this rustic tale fails to offer a distinctive viewing experience. Regrettably, a palpable lack of energy permeates the entire film-making process in 'Rahel Makan Kora.' Babu Edathua's narrative style, devoid of a sincere effort to engage the audience, further hampers the film's appeal. Lackluster performances and a mediocre screenplay collectively contribute to an uninspiring beginning.

Set in the picturesque Kainakari near Kuttanad, 'Rahel Makan Kora' follows the life of Gouthami (Merin Philip), a temporary KSRTC conductor, struggling to support her family, which includes two sisters and their mother. Her life takes a turn for the worse when Kora Mathew (Anson Paul), a PSC-nominated conductor from an affluent family, replaces her, leading to her unemployment. Gouthami joins a textile shop to make ends meet. Kora, touched by her plight, sacrifices the opportunity to become a Panchayat Secretary to help Gouthami secure her place on the rank list. As their feelings for each other grow, Gouthami faces challenges when Kora's mother, Rahel (Sminu Sijo), insists that she converts to Christianity, which sparks opposition from her own community.

While 'Rahel Makan Kora' succeeds in portraying the profound bond between mother and son, the love story between the lead characters takes a back seat. The story provides a promising backdrop for actors to excel and convey emotions effectively. Sminu delivers a dedicated performance in the pivotal role, outshining the rest of the cast. Merin, despite ample opportunities, only partially seizes the chance to shine as the protagonist. Anson Paul, as the lead, disappoints with inconsistent expressions and a lackluster performance, failing to shoulder the film's weight effectively.

The character of the local politician, Bheeman (Althaf Salim), adds little to the plot, and the attempted humor in his scenes falls flat. Kailas Menon's impressive background score contrasts starkly with the lackluster moments in the film, emphasizing the overall mediocrity of the drama. 'Rahel Makan Kora' never breaks free from its predictable and uninspired storytelling, maintaining a tepid and ordinary narrative throughout.

The film's casual handling of the central conflict diminishes its impact, and the climax only accentuates the absurdity of its execution. While the concept is intriguing, it is tarnished by an unimaginative script and underwhelming portrayal of events.
