Director Shaji Kailas & Scriptwriter A K Sajan have tried to push Suresh Gopi's histrionic talent to emulate what Amitabh Bachchan did in Shahenshah directed by Tinnu Anand almost two decades ago, and what 'Chiyaan' Vikram did in one of last year's biggest grossers in Tamil - Anniyan, directed by Shankar. If Bachchan was a corrupt cop during the day time and a superman like figure during the nights in Shahenshah, Suresh Gopi is a very successful criminal lawyer in the daytime, who comes to the rescue of the vilest criminals with his advocacy skills, but exterminates them at the end of the day so as to keep the so-called ''Cosmic Law'' in balance. If Vikram killed anti-social elements because of the multiple - personality disorder he was suffering from, Suresh Gopi kills his clients in full possession of his senses and totally aware of what he is doing.

The Director and the Scriptwriter have been influenced by these two films though they try to picture their hero as being different. Two murders take place within the first 15 - 20 minutes, giving you the required details about what our hero will be doing in the following two hours. He is required to save 9 girls, known as the 'Mirchi Girls', who are accused of the murder of fellow student Chinthamani, daughter of Veeramani Warrier, a poor temple attendant. Does he succeeds in that, does he kill the girls like he kills the other criminals after rescuing them from the long arm of the law or does he discover something else regarding the same murder, and what is his further course of action - these are the things that make up the story of Chinthamani Kola Case. The roles of Biju Menon, Kalabhavan Mani and Vaani Vishwanath are just thrown in for attracting their fans. Thilakan is one person who puts up a sterling performance. The same can be said of Saikumar. Suresh Gopi overacts especially in the smiling and the mantra chanting scenes.

One wonders why the film's background music changes to that of the K Madhu's 'CBI' series of flicks as soon as Kalabhavan Mani enters the scenes. One also wonders why the titles start with "Thanks" to Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dileep and a lot of other film personalities. One is also left wondering whether one should go for the next Suresh Gopi movie since he has made a habit of flops with a hat trick of three successive failures in Lanka, Raashtram and now Chinthamani Kola Case.
