Actress Jayamala has always been trying to make some very good films as a producer. She has earned a name for producing an award winning film like ''Thaayi Saaheba'' and also winning the Best Actress National Award for herself. ''Thutturi'' is a new film produced by her which deals with the problems and concerns of today's children who have been denied the opportunity to enlarge their creative inputs by playing because of the lack of playgrounds.

Jayamala says that she has produced this children film on the insistence of her daughter Soundarya who told her that a very few Kannada films have dealt with the problems of the children.

Director P.Sheshadri, who has won the National award for his three films consecutively, is known for taking up social issues for all his films. While his last film ''Beru'' dealt with the consequences of corruption,

''Thutturi'' takes up the issue of children and asks as to why children should not be allowed some freedom in determining their own process of learning and entertain them. Sheshadri also points out that today's children are just focused on cricket and computer games and are not allowed to have a quick look at the healthy and creative rural games which will enhance their physical and mental capabilities.

The film takes up an interesting narration from the beginning. Sheshadri has handled the subject very carefully and has brought out the best performance from child artists with a veteran like Dattanna stealing honors as an age old business man who intends to help the children. He has also succeeded in bringing out the aspect of children psychology in dealing with many issues and send out a message that the elders have to allow some freedom to children to progress and create their own space for entertainment.

A couple of children who meet another young student Shivalingu who comes to the city from a village. He tells them about many rural games that he plays in the village which is highly interesting and acts like an energy filler. But the problem is that the children have no play ground to practice these games. They find out an open space and clean up. But this open space belongs to a rich man. He is prepared to help the children, but his US returned son does not share his father's opinion as the land does have a good real estate value.

Meanwhile, the rich man's grand son who also comes from US joins the student's bandwagon and finds more pleasure in playing with them in the ''Thutturi Park'', which has been cleaned up by the children and who create a play ground of their own. Despite resistance from the rich man's son, the children will be able to put a stiff fight to get the park. .

''Thutturi'' is a well performed film with child artist Master Karthik Sharma delivering the best performance in the role of Shivalinga. Dattanna is top class as a rich man with number of ailments who tries to help the children. Master Kishen and Master Anirudhdh have also excelled in their roles. Dharma shines in his role of an evil minded son.

Camera work of H.M.Ramachandra and Music of Hamsalekha create right mood for the film. Ramachandra's efforts in shooting the film in streets, by lanes of the city and getting a right impact should be commended. Hamsalekha's lyrics and song composition of the top song ''Cricket, Cricket'' is top class. Prahlad's dialogues are precise and fill the need of the script perfectly.

Totally ''Thutturi'' is a very good children film which is worth a great watch. Take your children to the theatre and enjoy this wholesome entertainment which also makes you think.
