Valmeekam is a film with unconcealed political overtones set during the dark days of the Emergency. Written by S Rajaram, now Kerala's Chief Town Planner and a former classmate of Rajan whose disappearance during the Emergency is still a simmering issue, Valmeekam is a love story that traverses the distance from the naxalism of that period to the present day. The film has a song, the lyrics for which were written by S Rajaram and put to music by Rajan himself.
Narikode Narayanan was a police officer during the Emergency and known for his extreme cruelty. Now retired, he is ostracized by society and lives in isolation. He is filled with remorse. Guilt follows him everywhere till he finally admits in court about the death of Rajan at his hands during interrogation while under lock up.
The deceased Rajan was in love with Krishnapriya, an ordinary girl living in the Dhobi colony. She is now a teacher, still a spinster waiting for Rajan's return. It is through sheer chance that Krishnapriya meets Commissioner Rajashekharan, also a former classmate of Rajan. Together they confront Narikode Narayanan.
Manoj k Jayan who plays Narikode Narayanan will have ample opportunities to display his histrionic talents in Valmeekam, the debut film from John Ditto. The film has Vineeth Kumar playing the role of Rajan and Meera Vasudev as Krishnapriya.
