Director S.Narayan who is known for his clean sentimental fares has packaged his new film 'Thaayiya Madilu' with a good and healthy mix of enjoyable comedy, touching sentimental sequences and some fantastic action sequences.

On the whole the film is a neat product designed to entertain all classes of audience who can watch the 'U' certificate film (It has been difficult to get a clean 'U' Certificate for the Kannada films these days) without any sense of embarrassment or guilt. S.Narayan has won half the battle with his script which is tight and highly engaging. Lead actors Shivaraj Kumar, Jayasudha and Doddanna have done very well with some powerful performances in the sentimental sequences while heroine Rakshitha's comedy touch makes the proceedings lively. It is a feast of fight sequences by Ram Lakshman are certainly a treat for Shivaraj Kumar fans. Shivu also looks ravishing with his new looks.

What strikes too early for the regular watchers of the Kannada films are that Narayan has certainly treaded in a different path with this movie. The director has chosen a sentimental story, but has packaged it with some racy narration and some visually beautiful songs and high quality fights. In a way 'Thaayiya Madilu' differs from the director's other popular films like 'Simhadhriya Simha', 'Sirivantha', 'Chandrachakori' and 'Sevanthi Sevanthi'. 'Thaayiya Madilu' can be classified as a neat mass entertainer. The rich production values in songs have enhanced the quality of the film.

Nanda is a happy go lucky person who adores his father. He always extends helping hand to people who are in need. He saves Rakshi from committing suicide, but Rakshi insists that she will have to be protected by her savior. Nanda adores his late mother with deep devotion by performing pooja to her photo daily. Later he realizes from his mother that she is not his actual mother. Then Nanda comes to know that even the father who was looking after him so well was not his real father and was only his guardian. Nanda goes in search of his parents.

Nanda has been abandoned by his mother in his birth as she fears for the child's death. Nanda's father has been advised by a Goodman that he will be killed by his own son. Nanda find out his parents, but he did not be able to reveal his identity. He saves his father many a times to gain confidence. Finally the truth is revealed and Nanda will save his parents from the cruel designs of his own relatives.

S.Narayan's touch is there in the narration of the emotive sentimental sequences in the second half when the hero goes out in search of his real parents. Shivaraj Kumar comes out with one more brilliant performance in the film. His fights and dances are major attraction for his fans, though his sentimental acting will definitely please the large female audience who are backing his films. Jayasudha and Doddanna score well in the emotional sequences. . Rakshitha is too good in the first half of the film though her presence is very much restricted in the second half. Avinash has given a matured performance in the role of the father. Shobharaj is good in the role of the villain.

The technical department represented by photographer P.K.H.Doss and Editor Soundar Rajan have done a great job. While S.A.Raj Kumar's background music is a highlight, his musical score is just ordinary.

'Thaayiya Madilu' is a clean family entertainer.
