A music album or an actual movie? How should one comprehend it? "Aap Kaa Surroor", the movie titled after the debut music album of the nasal wonder Himesh Reshammiya, promises to reveal the mystery about the singer and apparently few incidents are based on the real life love story of the singer himself. The movie promo is framed interestingly and has created an unshakeable buzz for three main reasons:

1. It's not just to analyze Himesh's acting but to see him without his most prized possession and learn about the mystery of the cap.

2. Imported auto rickshaw with drivers

3. What's so real about this love story?

'Aap Kaa Surroor' directed by Prashant Chadha is a musical love story. Himesh Reshammiya (HR) a famous Indian rock star in Germany falls truly madly deeply in love, as he terms it in the movie – 'sachaa pyaar', with his event manager Ria (Hansika Motwani). AKIN to most Bollywood love stories here too, Ria's father disapproves the relationship in the beginning but later blesses the couple a lifetime of happiness. Mr. Khurana (Darshan Jariwala) is the one for whom HR does the shows. Ruby (Mallika Sherawat) is his partner cum lawyer. She is a huge fan of HR who obviously falls in love with him. In the meantime, the rock star gets framed into a murder scene and is put behind bars for killing a TV journalist Nadia. How does he prove his innocence and win back his love Ria, forms the rest of the story.

Direction by Prashant Chadha is below average. There is nothing new or unusual in the story to mark its uniqueness as a real love story. The screenplay is bad. I believe, through this movie Himesh is just trying to put himself across to the masses as a good human being and clear most of the speculations concerning him. Also, with too many songs in it, the movie appears more like a musical album with the actual story scrambled irrationally. And hey, what's the story behind the cap? The movie fails to answer this question as promised. Also the significance of the song 'Mehabooba' is unknown. With a proper and better placement, the song would have made justice in paying tribute to the music maestro R. D. Burman. The films music though is excellent.

Himesh Reshammiya is average. He needs to work hard on his acting skills, as a debutant he has given a reasonable performance. A few expressions are worth an appreciation. The songs, no doubt are an excellent treat to his fans.

The 16 year old Hansika Motwani, not new to the silver screen, looks kiddish but has delivered a noteworthy performance. Mallika Sherawat is wasted in a very limited role. Darshan Jariwala appears artificial in few scenes but overall is good. Especially at the climax, he has done an excellent job. Shravan looks great in the movie. His performance is very good and he covers Himesh for the dance sequences. Bani is okay.

Overall, The movie is just gloss and emerges impractical at times. There is nothing special that marks its uniqueness as a real love story. It also fails to fulfill the promises of revealing the mystery behind the first Indian Rock star.

Rating - 1.5 / 5 (Strictly for Himesh Fans)
