Upendra starred 'Parodi' directed by Sai Prakash comes as a disappointment to the fans of the Real Star who were feeling happy that their favorite star has returned with his original hair style and his distinctive dialogue delivery style. Yes, these changes are visible in the film with Upendra speaks non stop for a full six minutes about the present scenario in the country, the falling values in the society and the way politicians are dividing the people on caste and religious lines. But this trade mark Upendra dialogues apart, the film have nothing to showcase in terms of quality. Sai Prakash's direction is poor, Rajesh Ramanath's music is mediocre and even the other technical work related to the film is weak. With such negative points galore it would be difficult for a popular star like Upendra to carry the film on his shoulders with his sole contribution of dialogue delivery.

Sai Prakash has scripted the film on the lines of Hindi film 'Kranti Veer' which had a talented actor like Nana Patekar in the lead. Nana Patekar's dialogues and a brilliant script were the USP of 'Kranti Veer', but in this Kannada film Sai Prakash has not tried to be loyal to the original script. He has added a comedy plot to the main track which is not only absurd, but looks childish being included in such a serious subject like that of 'Kranthi Veer'. The comedy plot is also not original, but is copied from 'Manadai Thirudi Vittay' which had Vivek and Vadivelu doing the comedy sequences. With such a low originality content and a high remix portfolio in it, how can anyone expect 'Parodi' to be a good entertaining film. That is the reason why 'Parodi' gets weaker from the first sequence. Except in the last ten minutes the film fails to make an interest in the audience including the ardent fans of Upendra.

'Parodi' revolves around a school drop out Vijay who is abandoned by his patriotic mother in his young age. Vijay comes to the city where he takes refuge in Ranganna's house. Ranganna is a miser with a heart of gold. Vijay has a good sense of humor and takes on to the job of reforming people around him in his own weird way. He always helps people in distress. A nexus of politicians, bureaucrats and criminals wants to take control of a slum. Vijay takes the cause of poor people and an enraged mafia kills Ranganna. Vijay takes law into his own hands to kill all the villains and gets death sentence. Finally he gets clemency from the President.

Upendra has tried whatever he could to salvage the film, but Sai Prakash has done enough damage for the film which can neutralize all attempts to save it. Neha is just O.K. New comer Manasi is much better in the role of the sister. Rangayana Raghu scores in his limited scope. Pradeep Rawat, the new Bollywood import has nothing much to do. It is a sheer waste to evaluate the other performances in the film.

Rajesh Ramanath delivers the most mediocre work of his career in this film. Except for the title song rendered by Upendra, none of the songs are hummable. The quality of lyrics is also poor.

'Parodi' is a film difficult to digest. It is one the films that you would like to forget once you come out of the theatre.
