When well known television serial director T.N.Seetharam announced that he will be returning to direct a film after a long gap there were lot of expectations from film fans. Seetharam had a brilliant track record in directing tele serials and his first Kannada film Mathadaana based on a novel of Dr. S.L.Byrappa won an award and had cheered the hearts of film fans who want to see quality films. In that sense even Meera Maadhava Raaghava is a quality film with good story content and some good performances from artists. But the film's undoing is its technical content and very amateurish narration in the first half of the film.

Meera Maadhvar Raaghava has all the elements of the popular tele serials of Seetharam which mainly focuses on the problems faced by a middle class family. And Seetharam is a master of including sequences which have a tinge of crime and political angle in his serials. He has the knack of linking these unrelated criminal incidents with the main story and narrates how these incidents cast a shadow on the middle class family. But still Meera Maadhva Raaghava gives an impression that the well made film still needed something more than the strength of dialogues. The film fails thoroughly in its technical department and fails to measure up to the expectations it had created.

Seetharam deserves three cheers for writing such a good story. His handling of the climax and a few sequences before the climax should be appreciated. But what made him to forego the best of the technical support for this film is really surprising. The film had a good story element and really deserved a good technical back up. See the way Seetharam has shot the most important killing episode of the MLA. It is so shabbily done. And the way songs are shot in the first half is utterly laughable.

It also surprises as to how an award winning and contemporary cinematographer like H.M.Ramachandra compromised with this sort of technical narrative of the film. And Music director Hamsalekha has also failed to provide good musical content for the film. Many sequences after the marriage of Meera and Raaghava that happen in their respective families are amateurishly shot. This is one reason why the entire first half disappoints.

Meera is being stalked by a rowdy Raghava who proposes to her. Meera who hails from a respectable middle class family refuses Raaghava's overtures and his overbearing force. She later marries a college lecturer Maadhava with whom she had a casual acquaintance in a marriage function. After marriage Meera wants her husband to realize his dream of completing civil service examination. But the big question is to arrange funds. Meera has no other go than to approach Raghava for a loan of Rs.10 lakhs from Raghava to see that her husband becomes an IAS officer. She is forced by Raghava to sign a forged document for obtaining this loan. Maadhava becomes a Deputy Commissioner of the district and he wants to put Raghava to size. He orders for banishing him from the district which creates problems for Raaghava's political desires. And the story leads to a gripping climax.

Ramya again gets a role of her life time and manages to hold the dignity of the role. She manages to deliver a good performance in her role. Tilak is outstanding in the role of Raghava and it is difficult to remember any other artist who has excelled in a negative role in recent times. Tilak leaves a lasting impression with his right emotions and menacing looks. Diganth looks handsome in the first half and he has matched the requirements of the role. Seetharam has been able to get good performances from all the artists.

Watch this movie for Tilak's powerful performance and Seetharam's powerful dialogues.
