Mohanakrishnan is the son of a well-known writer and dramatist. When he is in the seventh standard his father passes away. The following years were years of poverty and hardship. Mohanakrishnan manages to study up to plus two. After that he is forced to look for a job.
He comes to the house of Rama Varma Thamburan with a letter of introduction from noted poet Kaithapram. Rama Varma Thamburan is a disciple of Chembai Vaidhyanath Bhasgavathar; and though not as well known as his guru, he is a noted musician in his own right.
Rama Varma Thamburan also owns a factory, but that has been locked out, and the family, though still maintaining the external appearance of wealth and prosperity, is in reality in dire straits. Rama Varma Thamburan is not in a position to help Mohanakrishnan, but the latter is unable to return home without a job. In the mean time Mohanakrishnan wins the affection of the two young daughters of Rama Varma Thamburan.
Nivedyam has several new-comers in the cast. Vinu Mohan who plays the lead role in the film, hails from a family that has for three generations been connected to theatre and acting. He is the grandson of Kottarakkara Sreedharan Nair, and the son of TV actress Shobha Mohan and theatre artist Mohanan. He is also the cousin of noted cine actor Saikumar. Nivedyam is slated to be released during Onam.
