Actor Vijay was a struggling actor till Duniya which launched him as a. In the last eight months, Vijay has become a big star and certainly his films carry big expectations among the fans. And huge expectations should always lead to some sort of pressure on the artists. But you will feel sorry for Vijay that a bad film like Yuga has followed a blockbuster like Duniya which was high on quality and content.

Yuga suffers mainly because of poor direction and a weak script. As the film unfolds on the screen, it is obvious that debutant director Chandru has not done any home work for this film. Most of the sequences lack an impact because of a weak narration. And there is no credible story line that can match the number of stunt sequences in the film. You see Vijay making somersault jumps, rope tricks and brilliant leg stunts one after the other in the film, but these good fight sequences do not get a good backing from a the script.

Yuga is a street rowdy who is closer to Thambi. Yuga works for a local don Sreekantu. Thambi gets killed by Mangalore based Don Pai. An enraged Yuga kills Pai in retaliation and then runs away where he gets injured in a shootout. Pai's son sends his henchman to trace Yuga. Alternatively he bribes the Police to eliminate Yuga in an encounter. Yuga forces his way to a doctor's house in a village to recoup from the injury. Yuga meets a young girl Kavya with a fatal decease there. Seeing her innocence and bubbly nature, Yuga gets attracted to her. Then his friends take him to Bangalore after he gets a bail. Kavya's health fails and then she telephones Yuga to meet her immediately. Ignoring all the warnings Yuga goes out with one of his friends to the village to meet Kavya. And if at all you have patience to watch the film any further you can see the so called climax sequence.

Vijay should be careful in choosing the subjects. There is no point in selecting films like Yuga which is just made to show his gymnastics skills. And Vijay who had scored well as a performer in Duniya falls flat in this film. Television Anchor Kavya is being introduced in this film as the heroine. But she has less to show in terms of her talent. The film has only fighters in most of the sequences.

Arjun's music is ordinary and even the background score is weak. Venus Murthy's camera work is O.K. The editing work is also shabbily done. Totally Yuga is a listless film which has no basic plot. The film has a poor script and bad narration. Even for ardent Vijay fans it may well be an ordinary fare.
