The story is about a married boss of a company who is a philander (Abbas). He takes liking for a girl (Mamta Mohandas). One of his employees is Madhavan (Guru) and the boss seeks his help to liaise with the girl. Madhavan's assignment is to create situations where his boss and the girl can get to know each other well. As it so happens, Madhavan himself falls in love with the girl.
Director Selvah says Madhavan's goal is to come up in life but love comes in the way.
He finds himself in a difficult situation where he has to choose between his life's goal and love. What decision Madhavan takes is the crux of the story.
"It is a jolly film," Selvah says.
This is KRG's 49th film and Director Selvah's third after "Naan Avan Illai" and "Thotta".
Madhavan and Abbas are the two heroes in "Guru En Aalu". Playing opposite them are Mamta Mohandas and Brinda Parekh respectively. Vivek plays a character which he has not done before. He also appears in different get-ups, according to Selvah.
M.S. Bhaskar, Manobala, Mayilsami, "Pattimanram" Raja, Sona, Renuka, Arthi, "Puvilangu" Mohan play important roles.
The film is an adaptation of Shah Rukh Khan's "Yes, Boss" and Madhavan plays the role of company secretary. Mamta Mohandas is a model. Brinda Parekh is the wife of the rich company owner Abbas. In this role of wife, Brinda moves a little away from glamour and displays her acting skill.
Two songs are to be filmed in Australia. "Veesuvadu En Katru Thaan, BBC- il en Betti thaan" has been picturised at AVM Studios. Art director Siva Yadav has erected a lavish six-floor set for this one song.
While the music is by Srikanth Deva, the lyrics are by Pa Vijay, Kabilan and Pazhani Bharathi. U.K. Senthil Kumar handles the camera.
V.T. Vijayan is the editor and L. Venkatesan has written the dialogues.
