Darshan has donned the police uniform for the third time in the film Arjun which again showcases his fighting and dancing skills with aplomb. And this brand of films has a huge following because of which Arjun was released with huge expectations.

With big hype built around its release, Arjun could have been a better offering if only its director Sahuraj Shinde had made efforts to present the film with a good script. But alas Shinde's inefficient handling coupled with a weak and illogical story makes Arjun the weakest of Darshan's films in recent times. For an actor who had given a blockbuster like Gaja only a few months ago, Arjun is certainly a big letdown.

It may be too much to expect a fully logical story in a commercial entertainer, but Arjun has too many holes in its story. Ill conceived sequences are in plenty in this film. And it is utterly laughable that the director does not know anything about police protocol. And coming to comedy sequences, it looks as if even the director did not know how to place Sadhu Kokila's character. He comes as a petty thief in the beginning, but is transformed as a police inspector in the second half. And there is a sequence where the villain walks into a meeting of Senior Police officers and even advises the Police Chief about transfers. And the rich father of the hero does not have anything better to do other than to watch the cartoon network on Television. With so many illogical sequences, the content of the script weighs down and the film falls flat. And the film will certainly be a torturous viewing for even Darshan's fans because of its slow pace of narration.

Arjun is a Police officer who is high on integrity and moral values. And his crorepathy father has ensured that he retains high moral values by depositing around Rs. 150 crores in the Bank in his son's name. But when he is transferred out of the city, the same father is prepared to give Rs. One crore to get his son a posting in the city. And what will Arjun do with such huge money. He distributes part of it to petty criminals and gives them monthly salary so as to enable them to help him catch big criminals. Arjun's policy is to first tell them about their criminal activities and warn them and later to kill them. Later the technical savvy Arjun finds that three big criminals are creating problems in the city. How he uses his muscle and brain power to take on these criminals and shoot them forms the rest of the plot.

Darshan looks pretty good in Police uniform and is quite stylish in other costumes. He does a good job in fights and dances. But he has limited opportunity to show case his talents in other sequences because of the lack of content in it. Meera Chopra does not fit in to the role. But Sanjana shines in her limited opportunity. Anant Nag and Oorvashi have nothing much to do, but the villains in the film just yell and shout without any reason. Sadhu Kokila's comedy sequences are atrocious.

Music Composer Harikrishna is the real hero of the film and his work is the best in the film. The Balle Balle song and the title song are certain to become chart busters. Doss has done a good job in cinematographic work. Ravi Varma's fight choreography is top class. But with all these top class technical support, Sahuraj Shinde utterly fails to deliver a good commercial film.
