Ponnar Shankar is a hollow gold cylinder. It is sturdy, attractive but empty inside. Technically, it achieves wonders but the screenplay is deeply flawed. You can just keep poking holes in it. To make a decent film out of a stupid story isn't easy. Director Thiagarajan has done just that.
