Mark Telugu Movie
'Mark' is exclusively for those who enjoy watching one man take on a bunch of baddies, single-handedly and evolve as a winner without even getting a scar on his body. Unfortunately, this film manages to deliver nothing more than that; two plus hours of action packed entertainment coupled with aimless direction and weak screenplay (Which for most part looked unreal, as though borrowed from some other film)
The film revolves around 'Mark', an amnesic patient who lives amidst a local tribe community in the most unreachable part of the forest. The protagonist only remembers bits and pieces of his past, but not completely. Duty takes Mark to city, where he comes to know about his past, when a man called Vittal triggers off his memory. Afterwards, we learn that the hero was one among the adopted kids that Vittal, raised to carry out undemanding work for him. It is here he falls head over heels for Divya (Niveditha), thus his attention shifts from Vittal to his new found love. On request from Divya's father, Vittal along
with his son kill Divya and pin the murder on Mark. What follows is Mark's hunt for vengeance and justice.
Pepsi Vijayan, debutant director hampered his own son's career, which might have taken off well, had he taken some expert director on board. Instead he decided to do it all by himself and unfortunately that didn't seem to go nowhere. His direction was aimless and lacked everything that a director should keep in mind while directing. There were few things that needed extra attention and these are as follows.
1. Selection of script was pathetic and naïve. The premise of the film looked very unnatural, as though borrowed or copied. ( Hollywood film 'Bourne Identity' comes to mind for most part of the film)
2. Aimless direction was seen all over the film. There was no synchronization between scenes; they were haphazardly connected in order to appear complete. Zero thinking was given to any scene and that was evident on screen.
3. Most importantly, stunt sequences in this film were not only lame but dim-witted at the same time. It is no way possible for a normal human being such as our hero, to perform such insanely impossible stunts that could've been possible only by someone excessively skilled.
Sabarish and Niveditha; hero and heroine, both appeared naïve throughout the film. Their performances were mediocre at times and poor during rest of the film. Sabarish failed as an actor and fighter, while Niveditha, blessed with a sensuous body only succeeded in showing off her slender body, which certainly raised few brows. Watching Sabarish and Niveditha share screen was like seeing Tarzan and Marylyn Monroe; if the former is known for his angry young man aura, the latter, with her endearing beauty could
send chills up your spine. Santhanam managed to bring some laughter together and managed to extract life out of this film at regular intervals. Smart! Rest everybody fell flat, as though they were pushed from the top of a building.
Mark, technically also failed to deliver a reasonable output. Neither did the cinematographer capture anything worth mentioning nor could the music mesmerize us. In a nutshell, 'Mark' got brutally beaten up from left, right and centre, leaving no more room for anymore beating.
Mark is yet another example of poor directorial expertise from someone who couldn't anticipate the shortcomings that were aplenty in the film.
