Revisiting the music of 'Enai Noki Paayum Thotta'

Nov 28, 2019 JJ

Finally it looks like Gautham Vasudev Menon's Dhanush' starrer 'Enai Nokki Payum Thotta' is releasing this Friday, November 29th. The movie has been delayed for quite some time and Dhanush fans, GVM fans and the music lovers are eagerly awaiting for this release.

Music has been a trademark of any GVM movies, and as usual ENPT is not an exception. Anytime, when I listen to any of the songs from this movie, it lingers with me for few days at least. All the songs of this film have been out for some time now. Let's revisit each of the songs.

Maruvaarthai Pesadhey

Voices: Sid Sriram, Lyricist: Thamarai, Music: Darbuka Siva, Length: 5:56

Maruvaarthai Pesadhey was the first song released and it became a runaway hit. At the time of the release the makers, did not reveal the music director's name. Mr. Menon referred to the music director as “Mr. X” and tweeted, “A song is mostly judged or liked also by who the music director is. Please listen to #MaruVarthaiPesathey and like it purely on its own merit.” The song is such a romantic one with Thamarai's lyrics and singer Sid Sriram takes you to a different world. Megha Akash and Dhanush looks together as a cute pair in the video.

Naan Pizhaippeno

Voices: D.Sathya Prakash, Lyricist: Thamarai, Music: Darbuka Siva, Length: 6:01

Another song with a similar music pattern as Maruvaarthai, ‘Naan Pizhaippeno’ song is sung by Sathya Prakash and it has lyrics by Thamarai as well. The portion with the lyrics - 'Oru thamarai neerinil illamal inge yen...' lift up the song with guitar beats in the background. Megha Akash looks beautiful like never seen her before in the montage pictures in the video.

Voices: Sid Sriram, Shashaa Tirupati, Lyricist: Thamarai, Music: Darbuka Siva, Length: 5:11

With 32 million views on YouTube, probably this is the most popular song of the movie and my favorite. The entire song is accompanied by string music and Sid Sriram's voice is perfect fit for the music. Shashaa Tirupati adds flavor to the duet perfectly.

The album has 3 more songs and 2 other versions of 'Maruvaarthai'.

Thirudaadhe Thirudaadh

Lyricist: Thamarai, Aaryan Dinesh Kanagaratnam, Voices: Darbuka Siva, Karthik, Aaryan Dinesh Kanagaratnam, Jonita Gandhi

Adadaa Naana

Lyricist: Thamizhanangu, Voices: Nakul Abhyankar, Length: 4:15

Hey Nijame

Lyrics: Madhan Karky, Voices: Bombay Jayashri
