The group of superficial characters that roam the grounds in 'Payyans' adds a dreary feel to the slightly interesting phenomenon that it offers a take on. Leo's film could have been so much more fun, if it had a dapper script sans the fuss and frills.

Shafi's new film Makeup Man picks a much familiar theme and attempts to add some sparkle to it by unleashing Suraj Venjarammoodu and letting him run amuck all over it. Barring the odd couple of moments that induce chuckles, there is not much to go ga-ga over Makeup Man.
