61st National Film Awards declared; Malayalam cinema bagged 6 awards

The 61st National Film Awards were declared today. Suraj Venjarammoodu won the Best Actor Award along with Bollywood actor Rajkumar Yadhav for the movies ‘Perariyathavar’ and ‘Shahid’ respectively.


‘Perariyathavar’ has also won the Best Film Award on Environment Conservation/Preservation. Shaji N Karun’s Swapaanam’ got the Best Audiography Award.


‘North 24 Katham’ has been selected as the Best Feature Film in Malayalam in the section of best films in the regional languages of India. ‘Kanyaka’ directed by Christo Tomy has been awarded the Best Non-Feature Film.


Rajeev Ravi won the Best Cinematographer Award for the Hindi film ‘Liar’s Dice’ directed by his wife and Malayalam actress Geetu Mohandas.
