Actor Captain Raju is no more

Actor Captain Raju died at his residence near Palarivattom in Kochi on Monday morning. The 68-year-old actor had suffered a stroke during a flight to New York recently. Then the flight was diverted to Oman, Muscat, where he had been admitted to a hospital. Later, he was shifted to Kochi for further treatment.


Captain Raju quit the Indian army and began his acting career in 1981 in the Joshiy-directed flick ‘Raktham’. He has acted in more than 500 films in various languages. He had also acted in television serials. His major films include ‘Nadodikattu’, ‘CID Moosa,’ Aavanazhi’, ‘August 1’ and ‘Athirathram’. The actor was last seen in the film ‘Masterpiece,’ released in 2017.


Captain Raju is best remembered for his role Pavanayi in the film ‘Nadodikattu’. He has directed two films- ‘Itha Oru Snehagadha’ and ‘Mr Pavanai 99.99.’ He is survived by his wife Prameela and son Ravi Raj.
