Actor Johny is no more

Actor Johny aka Kundara Johny, who made a mark in Malayalam Cinema through different roles, passed away on Tuesday night in Kollam. He was 67. Johny complained of discomfort while travelling by car at Chinnakkada and was admitted to nearby hospital. But he died around 9.30 pm.

A film career spanning 44 years, Johny has acted in around 500 films, including in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada and soap operas. He made his debut in the film ‘Nithyavasantham’ in 1979.

Johny is chiefly remembered for his characters with shades of villainy in most films. His roles in ‘Godfather,’ ‘Nadodikkattu’, ‘Kireedam’ and ‘Chenkol’ showcased his mettle as a flexible actor. The actor’s major films also include ‘Meen’, ‘Parankimala’, ‘Karimbana’, ‘Dadasaheb’, ‘Bharath Chandran IPS’, ‘Kutty Shrank’ and ‘Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha’. His last film was Unni Mukundan-starrer ‘Meppadiyan’.

He is survived by wife Stella and children Ashima and Astaj. His cremation will be held at St Antony’s Church cemetery at Kanjirodu on Thursday. Click the Movie button below for more info:
