Actor Khalid dies on location

Veteran drama and film actor V P Khalid passed away at a shooting location at Vaikom today morning. A native of Chullikkal at Fort Kochi, Khalid aka Cochin Nagesh suffered a massive heart attack on the location of director Jude Anthony Joseph’s Tovino Thomas-starrer film.

He is the father of cinematographers Shyju Khalid, Jimshi Khalid and director Khalid Rahman. Khalid became popular with the TV programme ‘Marimayam’ on Mazhavil Manorama. His character Sumesh in the show got the viewers’ attention due to his inimitable portrayal.

Khalid, who was also a singer, was a drama actor in Aleppy Theatres. He made his film debut in 1973 in P J Antony-directed ‘Periyar’. His other films include ‘Enippadikal’ and ‘Ponnapuram Kotta’.
