Ajay Devgn joins ‘Maidaan' shoot

Actor Ajay Devgn commenced the shooting for his next project titled ‘Maidaan’ on Monday. It also narrates the life of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, under whose leadership, Indian football team won the Asian games in 1951 and 1962.

Ajay, who plays Syed Abdul Rahim in Maidaan, took to Twitter to make the big announcement.

Sharing a poster of the film, he wrote, "#maidaankicksoff today!"

The Indian football team won a Gold at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta and reached the semi-finals of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics when Syed was the coach. The film has locations in Indonesia's Jakarta, Italy's Rome and Australia's Melbourne.

South Indian actress Keerthy Suresh will play the role of Ajay's wife in the film. Directed by Amit Sharma of ‘Badhaai Ho’ fame, the film will hit the screens in 2020.
