Akshay Kumar on a rescue mission again

May 30, 2017 Abhishree Kulkarni

It won’t be wrong to say that Akshay Kumar has taken an immense liking towards movie projects based on true stories. Last year itself he did two films based on real-life incidences like ‘Airlift’ and ‘Rustom,’ and this year he is already working on ‘Pad Man,’ ‘Gold’ and ‘Moghul.’

And now it is learnt that the ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ actor is all set to bring another powerful story to the silver screen. Reportedly, Akshay will once again play a rescue hero in a film based on the epic Raniganj coalfield rescue mission.

The monsoon in 1989 were dreadful in Raniganj, West Bengal, and as a result the roof of the minefields collapsed there by trapping about 64 miners inside. What followed was an intelligent rescue mission planned by Jaswant Singh Gill, the chief mining engineer, who risked his own life to save the trapped miners. He went down a borehole in a capsule and in the 6-hour long operation saved all the miners.

No brownie points for guessing, who Akshay will be playing in the film.
