Asha Bhosle walks ramp, gets standing ovation at LFW

Mumbai, March 23 (IANS) Veteran singer Asha Bhosle, who ventured into acting with "Mai", even did the catwalk at designer Manish Malhotra's spectacular show, celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema, at the Lakme Fashion Week summer-resort 2013 here.


The show, held Friday night, turned out to be one unforgettable affair.


Asha Bhosle, who was sitting in the audience and admiring the creations along with actress Hema Malini and costume designer Bhanu Athaiya, was called up on the ramp, and she was delighted.


"Whatever I am today, it's only because of cinema. I am proud to be a part of this industry. I have done everything in my life, and the only thing left was to walk the ramp," she said.


Her ramp walk was a visual treat for the audience. She flaunted one of Manish Malhotra's sari, and the entire audience stood up for the legend and gave her a much-deserved standing ovation.


Post the walk, Asha said: "Today I am wearing Manish Malhotra's sari, and thanks for giving me this opportunity."


The show was star-studded due to celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Karisma Kapoor, Kajol, Karan Johar, Dibaker Banerjee, Anurag Kashyap and Zoya Akhtar.


The ongoing edition of LFW will end March 26.
