Where there is Bollywood there is glamour! And our Bollywood divas surely know how to add dollops of glitz and glam wherever they go. The 66th Cannes Film Festival which also celebrated 100 years of Indian cinema saw Bollywood actress sashaying down the red carpet in all their glory.

Right from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Vidya Balan, Mallika Sherawat to the bold Sherlyn Chopra the actress all made a fashion statement at the French Riviera. We give you a low down on who wore what at Cannes:

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The 39-year-old actress who has been a constant at the Cannes Film Festival earned brickbats last year for her pregnancy weight but the diva shunned all critics with her lean look at the French Riviera as she walked down the red carpet donning an incredibly beautiful Elie Saab gown for the premiere of Inside Llewyn Davis.

Aishwarya flaunted her svelte figure in the heavily beaded outfit, which was fitted at the waist before billowing out into a long train. While keeping her make-up extremely simple, the actress left her hair loose in tumbling curls for the occasion.

Sonam Kapoor

The L’Oreal ambassador Sonam Kapoor dazzled the red carpet in an haute couture sari by Anamika Khanna as she attended the opening ceremony that kicked off with the premiere of Baz Lurhmann’s The Great Gatsby.

The deep red lipstick, a loose braid and striking eye make-up accentuated the essence of her uber glam desi garb. However, it wasn’t her startling red lipstick or the striking make up but her massive pearl nose ring that attracted all the attention.

Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan who had the rare honour of being at the jury panel of the Cannes Film Festival played it safe with her first appearance being a maroon and black lehenga designed by her favourite designer Sabyasachi.

But the Sabyasachi loyalist stunned everyone by donning a monochrome embroidered lehenga. She topped her desi attire with heavy gold and diamond necklace and bindi. However, what didn’t work in the favour of the outfit was her idea of drawing the dupatta over her head in a desi pallu-fashion.

Frieda Pinto

The Indian decent star who shot to fame with Slumdog Millionaire sparkled at Cannes in her custom-made hot pink Gucci gown and an elegantly gorgeous beaded golden belt.

The actress complemented her look with a side updo and Chopard jewels. An extremely light make up on her dusky tone along with just a floral ring for accessory added the perfect touch to her complete look.

Mallika Sherawat

After donning many lackluster or tawdry outfits at the Cannes Film Festival year on year, the actress finally decided to look elegant! Although known for her extremely bold outfits, Mallika toned down her look extremely by donning a conservative golden embroidered dress by Emilio Pucci.

The actress accessorized her garb with gold and diamond cuffs, gold earrings, a gold clutch and silver sandals.

Sherlyn Chopra

The quotient of boldness got well taken care of by the hottie Sherlyn Chopra. The actress who posed nude for Playboy magazine last year chose to wear a transparent ensemble for a red carpet event at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival.

There to promote her adult film Kamasutra 3D arrived on the Cannes red carpet dressed in a sheer black outfit with a solid black brassiere to hide her modesty. A heavy Rajasthan-inspired neckpiece takes away a bit of the attention from the dress.

Tejaswini Kolhapure

If there was anyone going all wrong at the red carpet it was Tejashwini Kolhapure. Sister of renowned Bollywood yesteryear star Padmini Kolhapure, Tejaswini attended the festival to represent Anurag Kashyap’s film Ugly in which she stars.

While the first public appearance saw her in a tacky netted sari, her second, although much better, didn’t really impress either. Seen at the screening of Juene Et Jolie, Tejaswini wore a black strapless Pria Kataria Puri outfit and paired it off with jewelry of her own.

Nimrit Kaur

Actress Nimrit Kaur who represented her film Lunchbox at the French Riviera saw seen sashaying down the red carpet in an elegant yet dazzling sari designed by Sabyasachi.

The black lehenga sari with white and gold embroidery thread work paired with high neck design sleeveless blouse looked very classy on the actress. She complemented her looks with Amrapali earring and red lipstick.
