Mar 31, 2013 Esha Verma

Bollywood is home to several legendary families which have contributed to Hindi cinema over generations. Their kin have devoted themselves and contributed to the movies in one way or the other, be it acting, filmmaking etc. One of the most renowned families, also called the first family of Hindi cinema, are the Kapoors. And then there are several celebrated actors whose children have taken over the acting baton from their parents and made a name in this competitive industry.

Continuing the tradition are a fresh crop of young and dynamic celebrity kids who are waiting to take Bollywood by storm. Infact many of them are also touted to make their debut soon. These youngsters may have been born with the silver spoon, living and breathing films, but have to still work hard to trump up their elders who have carved a niche in this industry. So we present our choice of interesting entrants who have the potential to carry forward the legacy of their parents and make a lasting impression in the film circuit.

Tiger Shroff

Jackie Shroff’s son, Tiger, has been in the news ever since one can remember. There is huge hype around his debut film, Heropanti, to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Sabbir Khan.

This 21 year old is crazy about fitness and his chiseled body, which is talk of the town, is ample proof of that. He apparently even trains with Aamir Khan. Infact, once upon a time Tiger was very keen to get into athletics. But Bollywood came calling and here he is all set to make his debut as a romantic hero.

It is for all to wait and watch if Tiger can create the same magic his father did in his debut film ‘ Hero’.

Athiya Shetty

The daughter of Sunil and Mana Shetty, Athiya will soon face the camera. There have been several rumours regarding her debut film and co – stars ranging from Ranbir Kapoor to Tiger Shroff. But apparently it’s neither and there is much mystery around her debut.

But this 18 year old has always wanted to follow her father’s footsteps and also studied filmmaking from the prestigious New York Film Academy. The pretty youngster is preparing for her entry by attending classes and working hard on her diction.

Her father may not have been seen in many films lately but he sure has some action-packed roles to his credit. Will we get to see his daughter show off some high voltage action? Only time will tell.

Armaan Jain

His entry into Bollywood is surrounded with expectations. After all if you belong to the first family of the film industry and have cousins as successful and renowned as Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, you sure have a lot riding on you.

The son of Reema Jain (Raj Kapoor’s daughter), this handsome lad will be launched under his brother-in-law Saif Ali Khan’s banner. Buzz is that Imtiaz Ali’s brother Arif will direct this romantic comedy.

Armaan has also been under Karan Johar’s able guidance and assisted director Shakun Batra on the Kareena Kapoor-Imran Khan starrer Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.

He has the characteristic good looks of the Kapoor khandaan and we will soon get to know if his acting also reflects the same charisma.

Siddhanth Kapoor

Veteran actor Shakti Kapoor is known for his baddy roles and unforgettable comic timing. Very soon we will get to see his son Siddhant Kapoor show off his acting prowess.

The young boy is making his debut with Sanjay Gupta’s upcoming film, Shootout at Wadala, where he plays a sharp shooter. Infact Sanjay Gupta has also worked with Shakti Kapoor in his first film, Aatish.

Siddhant is also one of the few lucky debutants who has already bagged another project before his first film hits the screen. He will also be seen in an important role in Anurag Kashyap’s next, Ugly.

This multi – talented boy who is also a DJ, has done a course in filmmaking, assisted Priyadarshan for over 4 years and now making his debut, sure seems promising.

Narmada Ahuja

Govinda’s daughter was to be launched by Salman Khan and make her debut a long while ago. But for reasons unknown we haven’t seen her on the big screen yet.

The latest news being that producer Pahlaj Nihalani is working towards giving Narmada the perfect Bollywood debut. Though nothing about the film is known, it is strange that the pretty daughter of such a popular actor has had to wait so long.

A case of being too choosy or plain bad luck? But she does have large shoes to fill in with such a talented father who has had audiences eating out of his hand. We look forward to seeing her sometime soon.

And then there are many other young star kids who we may not see on the big screen any time soon, but they are already in the limelight. Sara Khan, Jhanvai Kapoor, Trishala Dutt, and many others, Bollywood’s Gen Next is one promising lot.
