Kolkata, Nov 22 (IANS) With a bouquet of 42 films on the LGBT community from across the world, the sixth edition of Dialogues, the annual Kolkata LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) Film & Video Festival will begin here at the Goethe Institut Nov 23.

The three-day film fest, a joint initiative of Goethe Institut-Max Mueller Bhavan, Sappho for Equality (SFE) and Pratyay Gender Trust (PGT), will showcase full length feature films, short films and documentaries from India and abroad.

"Eleven full length features will be screened besides short films and documentaries. Films from America, Germany, Thailand, Canada and Israel will be included in the festival," said Meenakshi, spokesperson of Sappho for Equality, a sexual rights group.

Highlighting the efforts of actors, directors, and writers for their contribution to the niche film genre, the festival will feature works by both renowned as well as lesser-known artists.

"The critically acclaimed Israeli film 'Eyes Wide Open' will also be shown. Documentaries courtesy the Public Service Broadcasting Trust, our official partner, will be showcased," Meenakshi told IANS.

The inaugural ceremony will see the world premiere of the film "Guide Gufran" by Ayushman Mitra.
