Maharashtra mourns Ravi Shankar's death
Dec 12, 2012 IANSMumbai, Dec 12 (IANS) Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan and Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan Wednesday condoled the death of renowned sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, who passed away in a US hospital.
Sankaranarayanan said: "Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar was one of the greatest Indian musicians who popularized Indian classical music at the global level."
Added Chavan: "The country has lost a great international musician who introduced the Indian classical music to the Western world."
